The Ambassador Iryna Venediktova visited Ukrainians living in a modular city in Bern.
The modular housing unit was created last summer for the temporary housing of our citizens. So far, 250 people who had to flee the horrors of war have found shelter here. Among them are 45 children.
Our Swiss partners have made sure that the Ukrainians feel comfortable and live here. A kindergarten, a school, playrooms, and a medical center were also built on the territory of the container settlement.
The administration of the settlement helps Ukrainians in finding housing and work. Some Ukrainians work in this complex, teachers from Mariupol teach the Ukrainian program. Children master two educational programs at the same time.
Ambassador Iryna Venediktova thanked Franziska Teuscher, director of the department for education, social affairs, and sport of the city of Bern, and Ervin Sommer, head of the department for kindergartens and primary schools in the canton of Bern, for their commitment to the integration of our citizens and the needs of Ukrainian children.
