On 29–30 January 2026, a delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine visited the Swiss Confederation as part of the study visit “An Insight into Adult Education and Lifelong Learning Systems in Germany and Switzerland”, organised with the support of the international educational organisation DVV International.

The delegation included representatives of both the legislative and executive branches of Ukraine, namely Members of Parliament: Serhii Babak, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, Committee members Serhii Koleboshyn and Roman Hryshchuk, as well as Mykhailo Trofymenko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. This composition enabled the delegation to combine strategic perspectives on educational reforms with a strong practical interest in European experience in adult education.

During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the functioning of Switzerland’s education system. In particular, meetings were held with representatives of the Swiss Federation for Adult Learning (SVEB) and EB Zurich, one of the leading providers of adult education in the Canton of Zurich, facilitating an in-depth exchange of best practices and approaches to organising adult learning.

Special attention was given to dialogue with Switzerland’s federal authorities. Meetings with representatives of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) and the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) focused on international cooperation and support for educational reforms aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s human capital.

A key element of the programme was a visit to the Swiss Parliament, where the Ukrainian delegation met with Swiss counterparts to discuss current trends and challenges in education, the role of parliaments in shaping education policy, and approaches to advancing adult education.

The Embassy of Ukraine in the Swiss Confederation highly values this format of cooperation and will continue to support the development of Ukrainian–Swiss dialogue in the fields of education and human development, which is of particular importance for Ukraine on its path to recovery and European integration.
