On March 18, the Swiss Federal Assembly building hosted another traditional Ukrainian Forum under the theme “Challenges and Responses.” The forum brought together Swiss and Ukrainian parliamentarians, heads of diplomatic missions, experts, and representatives of civil society to discuss key issues of support for Ukraine.
The event was opened by the President of the National Council of the Swiss Federal Assembly, Maya Riniker, and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Iryna Venediktova, who emphasized the importance of international unity in supporting Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
During the panel discussions, the participants focused on:
- the need to increase military, financial, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, which is critical for supporting the country’s defense capabilities and protecting civilians;
- achieving a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace for Ukraine in accordance with international law and the UN Charter;
- holding Russia internationally accountable for war crimes and violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
Particular attention was paid to strengthening the European coalition in the field of security and defense, where Ukraine plays a key role, as well as the need to increase national defense budgets and financial assistance to Ukraine in accordance with the level of GDP of partner countries.
The event was traditionally organized by the Ukrainian Society in Switzerland, headed by the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Switzerland Andrey Luzhnytsky, the Ukrainian-Swiss Interparliamentary Friendship Group, the University of Fribourg, the Ukraine Cultural Network, and the Ukrainian Parliamentary Institute.
The Ukrainian Forum once again confirmed the high level of international support for Ukraine and the readiness of partners to increase assistance, contributing to the earliest possible victory of Ukraine and the restoration of peace in Europe.
