From March 23 to 30, 2025, the 5th World Winter Military Games under the auspices of the International Council for Military Sports (CISM) will be held in Lucerne. More than 1,500 military athletes from 43 countries around the world are participating in the event. The competitions are held at six sports venues in the canton of Lucerne and cantons.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces National Team is participating in these Games with 19 military personnel representing our country in biathlon, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and rock climbing.
The Games are held under the slogans “Military Champions for Peace” and “Friendship through Sport.” Their goal is to promote peace, understanding and trust between the armed forces of different countries through the language of sport, mutual respect and personal contacts.
For Ukraine, participation in such events is not only a sporting presence, but also a symbol of invincibility, dignity and active legal personality in the international space. Even in wartime, Ukrainian military personnel demonstrate strength of spirit and the ability to represent the state with dignity in the global dialogue.
The Ambassador of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova took part in the opening ceremony of the Games and had the honor to personally congratulate Ukrainian athletes - our defenders and ambassadors of invincibility, whose example inspires and arouses deep respect far beyond the borders of Ukraine.
