On March 17, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matviy Bidnyy and his deputy Viktoria Ryasna began an official visit to Switzerland.
This country has a developed club system, a powerful inclusive infrastructure and unique experience that can become a reference point for the modernization of the Ukrainian sports system.
The Ukrainian delegation visited the Swiss Federal Office of Sports (BASPO) in Magglingen. Before meeting with Director Sandra Felix, the Ukrainian side got acquainted with the sports and educational infrastructure of the center and its training facilities. During the negotiations, they discussed the exchange of experience in the development of sports systems, support for Ukrainian athletes and the organization of a summer training camp in Tenero. The Minister thanked the Swiss side for many years of solidarity and assistance to Ukrainian athletes.
An important meeting with Christophe Baer, President of Swiss Paralympic and CEO of PluSport Schweiz (the national association for adaptive sports), on the Swiss experience in inclusion, the development of adaptive sports and the training of coaches, which is especially relevant for Ukraine in the context of modern challenges and the growing number of people with disabilities.
In Lausanne, the Minister participated in the One Voice meeting of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which discussed key challenges in the fight against doping and international initiatives aimed at strengthening control in sports.
For Ukraine, sport is not only an important area of development, but also a key tool for social integration, physical rehabilitation and psychological support. The implementation of best international practices will contribute not only to improving the level of training of athletes, but also to the restoration of Ukrainian society through sport.
