On 22 February 2026, on the occasion of Ukraine’s National Day of Prayer (24 February), a worship service and charity concert by the Chamber Orchestra from Bakhmut took place in Basel with the participation of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland, Iryna Venediktova.
The event brought together representatives of the clergy, local authorities, and Swiss and Ukrainian communities around a shared purpose — prayer for peace, support for Ukraine, and solidarity with those affected by Russian aggression.
During her speech, Ambassador Iryna Venediktova emphasized:
“Words from Psalm 34 accompany us today: ‘Seek peace and pursue it.’ Ukraine seeks peace, but a just peace is not silence in the face of violence.”
The program featured sacred musical works and joint prayers in Ukrainian and German. The performance of the Chamber Orchestra from Bakhmut, filled with deep symbolism and hope, received a sincere and warm response from the audience, serving as an emotional reminder of the resilience of Ukrainian culture and the power of art even in times of war.
The Embassy of Ukraine expresses its sincere gratitude to the organizers, clergy, musicians, volunteers, and all participants for their solidarity and support of the Ukrainian people in their struggle for freedom, peace, and justice.
