The Ambassador Iryna Venediktova met with the Director General of the Universal Postal Union Masahiko Metoki.

The Universal Postal Union is a specialized agency of the United Nations concerned with promoting the development of the world postal service and international cooperation in this area.

The Ambassador called on the Universal Postal Union to react immediately and check invalid Russian stamps from the occupied Ukrainian territories. The world shall not accept written correspondence for processing with these paid stamps.

Possibilities of cooperation on security challenges were also discussed with Masahiko Metoki. For Ukraine, the donation from the Universal Postal Union Emergency Solidarity Fund is very valuable – 398 723 CHF for the restoration of the postal infrastructure destroyed by the Russian Federation. IT equipment and generators for non-stop work have become a significant support of the universal postal community for our country.
