A two-day conference dedicated to Ukrainian cultural heritage and art, which is currently under constant attack by the enemy, is taking place in Bern. With the support and assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland, the association "Legato Bern-Odesa", Yehudi Menuhin Forum Bern and the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine, this event brought together representatives of the cultural sphere of our country, Switzerland, EU countries and international organizations.
The conference is a practical continuation of the dialogue on the restoration of Ukraine, initiated by the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine in Lugano. Here is the synergy of joint international efforts and the power of Ukrainian art. With us are representatives of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Office of Culture, the association of museums, cultural foundations, the mayor of Bern, the ambassadors of Japan, Great Britain and Germany.
Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Oleksandr Tkachenko, gave a powerful message to help strengthen our cultural front and preserve our heritage. Odesa cultural institutions, in particular, the Odesa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, the Municipal Theater, the Museum of Modern Art and many others, presented their projects here. The Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter was also there.
1373 cultural objects in Ukraine were destroyed or damaged by Russian forces only during the period of the full-scale invasion. The war has been going on for 9 years, and Russia's desire to erase our identity and history is endless. However, the support and revival of culture make the state stronger. And we are glad that our friends and partners are uniting to preserve the objects of cultural heritage and UNESCO World Heritage in Ukraine.
