On 20 April 2026 in Geneva, the Ukraine Mine Action Partner Coordination Workshop 2026 was launched, co-organized by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD). The event is dedicated to coordinating international efforts in the field of humanitarian demining in Ukraine.
The opening ceremony brought together representatives of the Government of Ukraine and international partners, including GICHD Director T. Privitelli, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Swiss Confederation I. Venediktova, Delegate of the Swiss Federal Council for Ukraine J. Gerber, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Office in Geneva Y. Tsymbaliuk, and Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine I. Bezkaravainyi.
In their remarks, participants emphasized the critical importance of consolidating international support to address one of the world’s largest mine contamination challenges caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The two-day program focuses on key aspects of mine action development in Ukraine. The first day is dedicated to assessing achievements and challenges, improving the efficiency of demining operations, and sharing practical experience. The second day focuses on coordinating international support, discussing long-term recovery approaches, and identifying future steps for the sector.
The Embassy of Ukraine in the Swiss Confederation welcomes international initiatives aimed at clearing Ukrainian land of the consequences of Russia’s armed aggression and will continue to promote international dialogue and mobilize support for mine action efforts.
