The Embassy of Ukraine organised a Human Chain of Unity in Switzerland on 23 January to mark the Day of Unity of Ukraine, which is observed on 22 January.

The event brought together the Ukrainian community and became a symbol of our unity. It began with a minute of silence in memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our country.

Afterwards, all participants formed a human chain while holding one of Ukraine’s most important state symbols — the Ukrainian flag, which was unfurled on one of Bern’s central squares.

As the flag was unfolded, Ukrainians sang the National Anthem of Ukraine, creating a powerful symbol of unity with the Ukrainian people and with our compatriots wherever they may be.

In their address, representatives of the Embassy emphasised:

“In unity lies our strength. Ukrainians, unite abroad wherever you are. Unity is the path to victory.”

Although the war has scattered Ukrainians across different countries and cities, we continue to stand together, support one another, and remain united despite distances and borders.

We sincerely thank the local association Ukrainer in Bern for co-organising the event and call on everyone to contribute to the fundraising campaign for generators for Ukraine.
