The Embassy took part in the 40th Salon du livre book fair in Geneva.
Among the participants were Ukrainian writer Andriy Kurkov and French literary scholar and translator Georges Nivat.
A panel discussion titled “Andriy Kurkov and Georges Nivat: Writing and Translating in Times of War” was held. The discussion focused on the role of literature as testimony, a means of conveying experience, and an act of freedom at a time when history is unfolding before our eyes.
Andriy Kurkov presented his book “Our Daily War” and shared reflections on the difficult realities of life for Ukrainians amid the full-scale war, emphasizing daily struggle, resilience, and solidarity.
Georges Nivat spoke about his work translating the writings of Vasyl Stus, particularly the collection “Palimpsests”, which is now available in French.
We highly appreciate the promotion of Ukrainian literature abroad, especially the translation of Ukrainian poetry, which helps convey the truth about Ukraine through language and culture.
