The Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland joined the opening of the international contemporary art exhibition “Survival Rituals”, organized by Basel Art Center, TuAsho Agency, and Ruh Art Hub as part of Basel Art Week 2026 in Basel.
The exhibition brings together artists exploring life at the threshold between worlds — in a space where old systems have lost their power and new realities are only beginning to emerge. The conceptual foundation of the project is inspired by the biomechanical vision of Swiss artist Hans Rudolf Giger (H. R. Giger). Through this lens, participating artists reflect on fragile yet deeply human practices of survival: the interaction between humans and technology, experiences of isolation, the search for new myths, and the role of the body as a carrier of memory and experience.
Ukrainian artists hold a special place within the exhibition, presenting works that reflect contemporary experiences of resilience, transformation, and the search for new forms of self-expression. Participants include Nina Murashkina (in collaboration with Xavier Escala), Nikita Zigura, Yuriy Musatov, Artem Humilevskyi, Savka, Kate Barvynska, Olga Selyshcheva (Ottenheijm), Tatiana Popyk, Olena Morozova, Alyona Koni, Lesya Teslya, Iryna Semko, Iren Ivanova, Illya BEL, Anna Biletska, and Alexej Sachov.
The exhibition is on view at Basel Art Center (Basel, Switzerland) from 15 to 21 June 2026.
The project serves as an important platform for international cultural dialogue and contributes to the promotion of contemporary Ukrainian art worldwide.
