On 8 September 2025, a delegation of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, headed by President Vadym Huttsait, paid an official visit to the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne.
The delegation included representatives of the NOC leadership as well as the Ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland, Iryna Venediktova.
As part of the visit, a meeting was held with the newly elected IOC President Kirsty Coventry, during which the parties discussed support for Ukrainian athletes and prospects for further cooperation. Vadym Huttsait expressed gratitude for the IOC’s solidarity with Ukraine and emphasized the importance of maintaining a principled position on the non-admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions.
The IOC President, in turn, reaffirmed her readiness to continue supporting Ukraine and praised the strength and resilience of Ukrainian athletes who, despite the war, won 12 medals at the Olympic Games in Paris.
In addition, the Ukrainian delegation held a number of meetings with heads of IOC departments, focusing on support for athletes and coaches as well as the implementation of joint projects within the Olympic Solidarity programme.
A symbolic moment of the visit was Vadym Huttsait, Olympic champion of Barcelona 1992, signing the “Wall of Olympians” at the IOC headquarters, where legendary athletes leave their autographs.
The visit to Lausanne once again confirmed the strength of partnership and solidarity between Ukraine and the international Olympic movement, and demonstrated respect for the resilience of Ukrainian sport.
