A damaged Ukrainian ambulance was exhibited in Davos during the World Economic Forum
22 January 2026 17:20

On 22 January 2026, in Davos (Switzerland), during the World Economic Forum (WEF 2026), a Ukrainian ambulance vehicle damaged as a result of Russian shelling was exhibited.

The exhibition was located at Rathausplatz in Davos and aimed to draw the attention of the international community, forum participants, representatives of governments, business, and the media to the humanitarian consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The ambulance on display had been evacuated from Kharkiv - one of the cities that had been systematically subjected to missile and drone attacks by the Russian Federation.

The organizers drew particular attention to the so-called “double-tap strikes” tactic used by Russian forces, whereby follow-up attacks were carried out 10–15 minutes after the initial strike in order to target medics, rescue workers, and civilians arriving at the scene to assist the injured.

According to official data, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, 2,285 medical facilities had been damaged or destroyed, including 311 completely destroyed. In addition, more than 560 ambulances had been destroyed, damaged, or stolen, which constitutes a direct violation of international humanitarian law.

The Embassy of Ukraine in the Swiss Confederation supported this initiative and expressed its gratitude to the organizers - the non-governmental organization NGO Pro Ukraina - for sending a clear and powerful message to the international community about the real cost of the war paid daily by the Ukrainian people. Such initiatives were an important expression of solidarity with Ukraine and contributed to countering disinformation and attempts to normalize Russia’s aggression.
