On 1 March, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland, Iryna Venediktova, took part in the Charity Concert for Peace in Fribourg.
The event, which brought together prominent musicians from Ukraine and Switzerland, including members of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, became a symbol of unity and hope.
During the evening, the audience had the opportunity to enjoy professional performances of classical works, as well as the 1876 “Festkantate zur Murtenschlacht.”
It is deeply symbolic that this cantata is dedicated to a battle representing Switzerland’s resistance to external invasion and the defense of its independence — a challenge that Ukraine is currently forced to confront.
“For Ukraine, the struggle for freedom is not merely a page of history — it is our present reality,” the Ambassador emphasized in her address.
As part of the concert, a fundraising collection was held among the audience to support Ukrainian musicians.
The concert became a heartfelt call for solidarity and unity, as well as for continued support of the Ukrainian people and the cultural figures of our country at a time when culture itself has become another field of struggle.
The Embassy of Ukraine expresses its sincere gratitude to the organizers for fostering cultural ties between our two countries and for supporting Ukrainian musicians.
