The Embassy of Ukraine took part in the presentation of the book "WOUND" by Ukrainian artist Eliza Mamardashvili, organized by the Olivier von Schulthess Collection in Zurich.
The series of 75 works on paper was created in the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine - in an improvised bomb shelter deployed in a cultural center. Using simple means - a ballpoint pen on sheets of paper - the artist recorded her experiences, transforming personal trauma into the expression of art.
In his speech, the Counselor Samvel Arustamian expressed gratitude to the author, as well as the book's designer Kateryna Lesiv, and to the Swiss partners for supporting Ukrainian culture: "These drawings are the voice of pain, fear, but also of courage and resistance. "Even in the darkest moments, art can speak. Thank you to everyone who helps this voice be heard."
