On 9 October 2026, a meeting took place at the headquarters of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Bern between Ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland Iryna Venediktova, CEO of JSC Ukrposhta Ihor Smilianskyi, and UPU Director General Masahiko Metoki.

The discussions focused on Ukraine’s cooperation with the Universal Postal Union, the current challenges facing Ukraine’s postal sector amid Russia’s ongoing aggression, and prospects for further cooperation.

Particular attention was given to ensuring the continuity of postal services, strengthening the resilience of postal infrastructure, and supporting the development of Ukraine’s postal sector.

The Ambassador of Ukraine expressed her gratitude to the UPU Director General for his support for Ukraine and his recognition of Ukrposhta’s work, reflected in the company receiving the international “Regional Champion in Postal Development 2026” award.
