Today, a special event dedicated to Vyshyvanka Day took place, celebrating the 20th anniversary of this important tradition.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland together with the Ukrainian Society in Switzerland. It brought together the Ukrainian community, Swiss partners, and friends of Ukraine around our traditions, culture, and shared values.
The official opening began with the National Anthem of Ukraine. Ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland Iryna Venediktova addressed the guests, emphasizing the importance of preserving Ukrainian identity and the unity of Ukrainians around the world.
The participants were also welcomed by Samvel Arustamyan, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, as well as Andrey Lushnytskyi, President of the Ukrainian Society in Switzerland and Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Switzerland.
A special festive atmosphere was created by the musical performances of Yuliia Shevchenko, who gifted the audience with the touching sound of the bandura and Ukrainian songs.
A particularly warm and symbolic gesture was that throughout the day, all children receiving consular services were presented with vyshyvankas as gifts — a symbol of Ukrainian heritage, love for the homeland, and the connection between generations.
Vyshyvanka Day once again proved that Ukrainian culture lives in people’s hearts and has the power to unite friends of Ukraine all around the world.
