The visit of Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine Iryna Mudra and Adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Markiyan Klyuchkovskyi began with a morning meeting with the Director of the Federal Department of Justice of Switzerland, Michael Scholl, and a team of lawyers from the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.
The focus of the expert discussion was on the functioning of the International Compensation Mechanism and the launch of the Registry of Damages Caused by Russia's Military Aggression against Ukraine. They also raised the issue of possible legal mechanisms for Switzerland's use of confiscation mechanisms in relation to Russian assets.
During the meeting with the head of the Department of International Law of the Foreign Policy Department of Switzerland, Ambassador Corinne Ciceron-Buhler and her team synchronized further steps in the issue of confiscation and transfer to Ukraine of the assets of former high-ranking officials of the "Yanukovych era".
In the matter of the International Compensation Mechanism, the Swiss side clearly noted that it is ready to continue working within the framework of the multilateral mechanism.
It has been agreed with the Swiss side to continue the discussion of the mentioned issues as early as next week on the sidelines of the Council of Europe.
