The visit of representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine to the city of Chur began with a meeting with the city councilor Patrik Degiacomi and the Ukrainian community.
Since the first days of the full-scale invasion, the city of Chur has supported the Ukrainians in every way. A Ukrainian school stood out among needs. This also applies to conveying Ukrainian culture. There are 2000 Ukrainians living in the canton of Graubünden, 500 of whom live in Chur.
The town hall took part in the opening of the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian school, which teaches almost 200 children. We were happy to present the Ukrainian books for the school library.
As part of the seventh Ethics Forum on Switzerland's neutrality policy, the Counselor Andrii Biriuchenko gave a speech on the current situation in Ukraine and relations with Switzerland.
A constructive discussion was held with the Secretary General of the EDA Markus Seiler, the historian Christian Ruch and the Diocesan Bishop of Chur Joseph Maria Bonnemain: about the realization of Switzerland's potential, the crime of aggression and support for Ukraine's reconstruction, especially in the humanitarian area Mine clearance, as well as the importance of preventing such terrible events as the genocide of the Ukrainian people - the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine.
We thank Chur, the Ukrainian community and the forum organizers for the warm welcome and hope for further fruitful cooperation.
