On March 12, the traditional thematic seminar "Ukrainian Forum" was held in the Federal Assembly (Parliament) of Switzerland. The theme of this year's forum was "Two years of a full-scale Russian invasion that is still counting."
Co-organizers of the event were the Switzerland-Ukraine Friendship Group, the Ukrainian Society of Switzerland, the Interfaculty Institute of Central and Eastern Europe of the University of Freiburg.
Deputies of Ukraine Oleksiy Krasov, Olena Khomenko, Yevgenia Kravchuk, Maria Mezentseva, representative of the President of Ukraine for Children's Rights Mykola Kuleba, representative of the President of Ukraine for Children, Family, Youth and Sports Iryna Suslova, Ambassador of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova, Hon. consul of Ukraine Andrey Luzhnytskyi, deputies of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland Roger Nordmann, Nick Gugger, Nicolas Walder, Martin Bäumle (co-chairs and members of the Switzerland-Ukraine friendship group), representatives of Ukrainian non-governmental organizations, diplomatic corps and the Ukrainian diaspora.
In her welcoming speech, the First Deputy Chairperson of the National Council, Maja Riniker, confirmed the solidarity and support of Switzerland to the people of Ukraine during the fight against Russian aggression. In this context, readiness was expressed to continue joint work on consolidating the efforts of the international community to oppose Russia's aggressive policy, the goal of which is the destruction of Ukrainian identity and further expansion.
During the forum, such important blocks of issues were discussed as the parliamentary component of unification of efforts to return Ukrainian children deported by the aggressor country, the development of an effective mechanism for compensation for damages caused due to blocked Russian assets, increasing the weight of Switzerland in the field of humanitarian demining and protection of the civilian population of Ukraine.
