On June 5, 2026, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Swiss Confederation hosted a Ukrainian Breakfast that brought together representatives of Ukrainian delegations, the Ukrainian community in Switzerland, and guests who arrived in Bern for the opening of the Ukrainian World Congress Summit.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Maryana Betsa, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Swiss Confederation Iryna Venediktova, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine for European Integration Ilona Havronska, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine Oleh Didenko, President of the Ukrainian World Congress Pavlo Grod, and President of the Ukrainian Society in Switzerland Andriy Lushnytskyi.
In their speeches, the speakers emphasized the importance of unity among Ukrainians worldwide, solidarity around shared values, and unwavering support for Ukraine in its struggle for freedom, independence, and a just peace. Calls were made to further strengthen ties between the state, civil society, and Ukrainian communities abroad, as well as to consolidate efforts for the reconstruction and future of Ukraine.
The organizers were especially pleased to welcome the delegation of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine, which had been visiting Switzerland for a week as part of a study visit organized at the invitation of the Swiss Government with the support of the Council of Europe. Members of the delegation had the opportunity to learn from Swiss institutions’ experience in electoral administration, democratic governance, and the organization of electoral processes.
The Ukrainian Breakfast became a symbolic beginning to several important days for the global Ukrainian community. Today, the Ukrainian World Congress Summit officially begins in Bern and will continue from June 5 to 7, bringing together Ukrainian leaders and representatives of communities and organizations from around the world to discuss key issues related to supporting Ukraine and strengthening global Ukrainian cooperation.
We thank all participants for the meaningful dialogue, solidarity, and support for Ukraine.
