On 25 June 2026, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein was pleased to welcome students and teachers from Sekundarschule Oberrieden to Bern for a visit aimed at learning more about the work of Ukraine's diplomatic service.
The meeting took place in a lively, open and friendly atmosphere. Students had the opportunity to learn more about the activities of the Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland, the mission of the diplomatic service and the role of diplomats in representing Ukraine's interests abroad.
During the meeting, Deputy Ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland and Counsellor of the Embassy Samvel Arustamyan introduced the students to the history of Ukrainian diplomacy and the origins of Ukrainian-Swiss relations. He spoke in particular about the Extraordinary Diplomatic Mission of the Ukrainian People's Republic in Switzerland, which operated in Bern from August 1918 until 1926, representing the interests of the Ukrainian People's Republic, conducting diplomatic negotiations and providing assistance to Ukrainian refugees in Europe.
Mr Arustamyan also presented the Embassy's strategic priorities and outlined the key areas of Ukrainian-Swiss cooperation.
The Embassy's diplomats introduced their respective fields of work, shared insights into their daily responsibilities and explained how Ukraine's diplomatic service advances the country's interests, strengthens international support and contributes to Ukraine's presence on the global stage.
The students showed genuine interest in the diplomatic profession and asked many thoughtful questions about international relations, the work of the Embassy, international support for Ukraine and the daily responsibilities of diplomats. All questions were answered in an engaging and informative discussion.
We sincerely thank the students and teachers for their visit, their active participation and their interest in Ukraine and diplomacy. Meetings like these foster mutual understanding, strengthen intercultural dialogue and help inspire a new generation of globally minded and responsible citizens.
