On 23 February 2026, a solidarity event marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine took place at the Lukas-Kirche in Lucerne.
The Chamber Orchestra from Bakhmut — a city that has become a symbol of Ukraine’s resilience — created a special atmosphere during the event.
In his speech, a representative of the Embassy emphasized the symbolic significance of the venue:
"Solidarity is born where people come together. Today, Lucerne shows that support for Ukraine is not just words, but responsibility and concrete actions."
The cooperation between Lucerne and Zhytomyr was also highlighted, particularly the project discussed in 2025 to deliver 13 low-floor trolleybuses to the Ukrainian city. This serves as an example of how Swiss solidarity translates into tangible improvements in the lives of Ukrainians.
The Embassy expresses its gratitude to Pastor Johannes Frank, President of Ukrainehilfe Zentralschweiz Paul Winiker, President of the Ukrainian Cultural Center Prostir, Olena Kultk, as well as representatives of the Lucerne community and the Ukrainian diaspora.
