The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, honoured the memory of those killed at the site of a residential building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district that was destroyed by a Russian missile strike on 14 May.
As a result of the attack, an entire section of the apartment building — from the first to the ninth floor — was completely destroyed. The Russian missile attack claimed the lives of 24 people, including three children.
Search and rescue operations continued uninterrupted for more than 28 hours. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the National Police provided assistance to around 400 affected residents.
Emergency recovery and stabilization works are currently ongoing at the site.
According to preliminary information, the residential building was struck by an Kh-101 missile manufactured in the second quarter of this year. The attack was part of a massive Russian assault that lasted nearly two days.
During that time, Russia launched 1,567 drones and 56 missiles in multiple waves, including aeroballistic, ballistic, and cruise missiles.
