On January 30, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Swiss Confederation Iryna Venediktova was received by Federal Councilor, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Ignazio Cassis.
Given Ukraine’s dire situation and enormous suffering the civilian population endures, Federal Councilor Ignazio Cassis conveyed his condolences for daily loss of human lives.
Ambassador Venediktova highly appreciated Switzerland’s political support in times of russia’s full-scale military aggression and admired the solidarity of the Swiss people in responding to Ukraine’s humanitarian calls.
Active work of the Swiss Federal Council in sending strong political messages on the russian aggression as well as secure relevant financing of the humanitarian aid allocated for Ukraine’s needs were underlined. The special emphasis made on Switzerland’s future role as humanitarian demining provider to tackle one of the most serious problems for recovery process.
Federal Councilor Ignazio Cassis assured of further support and assistance of Switzerland to address the challenges of the ongoing aggression against Ukraine. In this regard, open and friendly atmosphere made a solid contribution to fruitful exchange on Ukraine’s ten points plan to peace as well as possible joint endeavors dedicated to one year of full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
