The Ambassador Iryna Venediktova discussed with the head of the Office of International Law of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Franz Perrez the issue of international responsibility for violations of international law and committing the crime of aggression. Only a fair trial will be able to ensure further lasting peace. Switzerland, as the cradle of the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law, can play a prominent role in this process.

In addition to legal responsibility, Russia must fully pay for its aggression.

The Ambassador congratulated Switzerland on joining the Register of Damages, which has already started its work.

Today, together with international partners, Ukraine is discussing the conclusion of an international multilateral agreement on the creation of an international compensation mechanism.

It is with Russian money that the reconstruction and restoration of Ukraine should take place, as well as compensation for those Ukrainians to whom the Russian war brought pain and suffering.
