Today, we celebrate the Day of Ukrainian Statehood.
This holiday is not only about the present. It speaks to more than a thousand years of our nation-building history – from the times of Kyivan Rus to today.

On this day, we honor Prince Volodymyr the Great, who in 988 adopted Christianity – a choice that laid the foundation of our statehood.

Ukrainian statehood is stronger than any invader. It lives in the trident, in the blue and yellow colors of our flag, in our songs and poems.

Our history proves: we were, we are, and we will be. And today, Ukrainians, with weapons in hand, are defending not only our present and future but also our past – our identity, history, and values.
