The war against the Ukrainian people endangers not only human lives, but also architectural monuments, museums and cultural values.
Today in the OpenArtMuseum of the city of St. Gallen, the exhibition "Beast of war - naïve art of Ukraine" opens under the curatorship of the director of the Kyiv gallery "Rodovid" Lidia Lykhach. For the first time in Switzerland, this exhibition will present a Ukrainian naïve. The center of attention is the collection of Maria Prymachenko's works with the painting "Beast of War".
Naive art is a folk art that has a strong power of forming Ukrainian identity.
In the art museum, 50 works by 23 artists represent naive art from Ukraine.
We express our gratitude to the Federal Administration of Culture, the Board of Trustees, and the city of St. Gallen, the management of the OpenArtMuseum for the patronage and support of Ukrainian treasures in Swiss museums.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog in German, English and Ukrainian and will be open until February 25, 2024.
