The Ambassador Iryna Venediktova held a meeting with the President of the National Council Martin Candinas. The Ambassador informed about the situation in Ukraine - missile terror and murders of civilians by Russian troops and called to return to the issue of re-export of military goods.
The Ambassador noted the value of the Confederation's assistance in humanitarian demining and financial support for the recovery of Ukraine.
During the conversation, the importance of recognition by the Parliament of Switzerland of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people was emphasized. We can see its signs in the current terrible circumstances of the Russian Federation's attempts to destroy everything Ukrainian. Therefore, our constant emphasis is that this crime should be recognized as a crime, so that the lesson does not remain unlearned.
On behalf of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Ambassador invited the President of the National Council, Martin Candinas, to visit Ukraine in the near future.
We hope for further fruitful inter-parliamentary cooperation and the participation of the Swiss side in the summit of the Crimean Platform, as well as events for the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor.
