On February 24, 2026, representatives of the Embassy took part in a commemorative event in Olten marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine. Ecumenical prayers for peace were held as part of the event.
During the ceremony, Stadtpräsident Thomas Marbet expressed his sincere sympathy to Ukrainians whose peaceful lives were shattered by the war. He emphasized the inadmissibility of distorting facts by equating the victim with the aggressor and assured continued support and solidarity with Ukraine.
The words of Monique Rudolf von Rohr, President of the Christian Catholic parish of the Olten region, were also deeply moving. She stressed that injustice remains injustice and that Russian aggression is accompanied by war crimes and disinformation. Nothing can justify razing cities to the ground, looting, marauding, and killing.
The artistic program featured the Ukrainian choir “Spivucha Ukraina,” the dance ensemble “Na krylakh,” and guitarist Anton Kudriavtsev.
We thank the city authorities, the organizers, and all participants for their solidarity with and support for Ukraine.
