On 21 November, the Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland took part in an event commemorating the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933, organized by the Ukrainian community in the Canton of Vaud with the support of the IvAlive Foundation and the IvAlive Educational and Development Center.
In its address, the Embassy’s representative reminded that this day holds special significance for all Ukrainians, as 21 November marks the Day of Dignity and Freedom — a day when we honor the courage, strength, and sacrifice of those who fought for Ukraine’s right to be a free, independent, and dignified state.
Commemorating the Holodomor on this day is especially symbolic. The tragedy of 1932–1933 reminds us of the price of truth, freedom, and human dignity, as well as of our shared duty to ensure that such crimes never occur again in human history.
The Embassy expresses its deep gratitude to Switzerland for last year’s historic decision by its parliament to recognize the Holodomor as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian people, and sincerely thanks the Ukrainian community for initiatives that preserve the truth and our shared memory far from our homeland.
Special thanks go to the IvAlive Foundation and the Center’s leadership for supporting Ukrainian children, women, and families, and for creating a place that has become a second home for many.
