On 28 October 2026, Iryna Venediktova, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Swiss Confederation, visited the Canton of Uri.

During the visit, she met with representatives of the cantonal government, including Daniel Furrer, Head of the Cantonal Government and Director of Justice, and Georg Simmen, Member of the Cantonal Executive Council and Director of Education and Culture.

The discussions focused on current issues related to support for Ukraine, including humanitarian assistance, support for Ukrainian nationals residing in Switzerland under protection status S, and opportunities to engage Swiss partners in future recovery and reconstruction projects in Ukraine.

The parties also discussed opportunities to develop economic cooperation and strengthen the partnership between Ukraine and the Canton of Uri.

As part of the visit, the Ambassador also met with Sebastian Züst, Mayor of Altdorf. They discussed opportunities for cooperation between Ukrainian communities and municipalities in the Canton of Uri, prospects for humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, support for Ukrainian nationals under protection status S in Switzerland, and the development of economic ties.

The visit provided an opportunity to deepen political, humanitarian and economic dialogue, strengthen interregional ties, and advance further cooperation between Ukraine and Switzerland.
