On 9 July 2026, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Swiss Confederation Iryna Venediktova met with Ambassador Simon Plüss, Head of the Export Controls and Sanctions Division at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues related to sanctions policy, including the further strengthening of restrictive measures against the Russian Federation, coordination with international partners, and possible ways to counter sanctions circumvention.
Particular attention was paid to the need to restrict the supply of microelectronics and other high-tech components used by Russia's military-industrial complex in the production of weapons. Ambassador Venediktova underscored the importance of coordinating joint efforts among partners to strengthen sanctions pressure on the aggressor state and further limit its ability to continue its military aggression.
The Swiss side reaffirmed its readiness to continue close cooperation with Ukraine within the framework of the coordinated international sanctions policy targeting the Russian Federation.
