On February 21, 2023, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland Iryna Venediktova met with the State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Livia Leu.

The importance of a dynamic dialogue and the role of Switzerland as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2023-2024 in the protection of the UN Charter and international law were emphasized.

Given almost one year of russia’s unprovoked full-scale invasion, Ambassador of Ukraine underlined her gratitude for the FDFA’s support for national church bell tolling and a minute of silence at 9:00 on February 24, 2023, remembering those perished.

State Secretary Livia Leu assured of further support and assistance of Switzerland in covering Ukraine’s humanitarian needs, including de-mining as well as working together on finding feasible solutions vis-à-vis the ongoing war of aggression. In this regard, open and friendly atmosphere made a solid contribution to fruitful exchange on Ukraine’s ten points plan to peace as well as recovery process.
