The 19th Zurich Film Festival will be held in Switzerland from September 28 to October 8. This year, the Ukrainian documentary film „In the rearview“ by Polish director Maciek Hamela and Ukrainian producer Ksenia Marchenko is presented here.
The premiere of the film took place at the Cannes Film Festival; the film was shown on 4 continents and won international awards.
From February 2022, the team of the film „In the rearview“ worked as an evacuation group. The film illustrates the image of Ukrainian refugees - children, women, and elderly people, men, who were forced to leave their homes and go to an unknown future after the Russian invasion. The goal is the same for everyone - to find a safe haven. They board the evacuation bus and tell their story, which they had to survive. The director himself is behind the wheel, taking the heroes as far as possible from the war and helping to save their lives.
It is a great honor for the film team to have the opportunity to screen in Switzerland, which has given protection status to many of our citizens.
In the conditions of the full-scale and barbaric war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, mentioning Ukraine on international platforms and spreading information about the crimes of the Russian Federation against Ukrainians is very important.
The Ambassador of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova took part in the opening of the film and emphasized the importance of conveying human stories to the Swiss audience.
We express special gratitude to the organizers of the festival for their support and attention to our country, and we wish the film team continued success.
To victory!
