On the margins of the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, held a meeting with Swiss Federal Councillor, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ignazio Cassis.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian side briefed on the current security situation, in particular developments along the frontline and the ongoing attacks by the Russian Federation against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, including nuclear facilities. Special attention was paid to Ukraine’s most urgent energy needs during the winter period.
The interlocutors discussed international peace efforts and the current state of diplomatic initiatives, including recent Ukraine–United States talks, next steps, and the need to further increase international pressure on the aggressor state.
Switzerland’s readiness to continue providing comprehensive support to Ukraine, particularly in the humanitarian field and in strengthening energy resilience, was reaffirmed. Switzerland’s contribution to international peace efforts, as well as its role in advancing accountability and justice for Ukraine, was also highlighted.
The parties further discussed the full agenda of bilateral relations. Switzerland was noted as one of the leading providers of humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. The Ukrainian side expressed its appreciation for Switzerland’s active participation in the Civil Protection Shelters Coalition and the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
Particular attention was given to the coordination of further cooperation in the multilateral framework in the context of Switzerland’s OSCE Chairpersonship in 2026, with the aim of promoting peace and security for Ukraine and for Europe as a whole. The sides agreed to maintain close political dialogue and further contacts, including in the framework of a planned visit of a Swiss delegation to Kyiv.
