From 8 to 21 December 2025, 18 Ukrainian children whose parents served in the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Khartiia” and were killed or went missing while defending Ukraine against the armed aggression of the Russian Federation are staying at the National Youth Sports Center Tenero CST, one of Switzerland’s leading sports centers.
The program is implemented with the support of the Swiss Federal Office of Sport (BASPO).
On 13 December, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Swiss Confederation, Iryna Venediktova, visited the camp, met with the children and the organizers, conveyed words of support and solidarity, and expressed gratitude to the Swiss side for its continued attention to Ukrainian children affected by the war. In particular, sincere thanks were extended to the Director of the Swiss Federal Office of Sport, Sandra Felix, as well as to all members of her team, for their solidarity and consistent support for Ukraine.
The organization of this program is the result of systematic and long-term efforts by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Swiss Confederation, carried out in cooperation with Swiss partners, aimed at providing humanitarian support to Ukrainian children affected by the war.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, Swiss sports institutions—BASPO in particular—have consistently supported Ukrainian children by opening their centers for rehabilitation and recovery programs, providing accommodation, infrastructure, and comprehensive assistance.
