The Ambassador Iryna Venediktova began her official visit to the Canton of Ticino by laying flowers at the memorial stone with the Ukrainian coat of arms and the inscription in Ukrainian "To the fighters for the freedom of Ukraine 1918-1946", which is located near the local Catholic church of the Holy Virgin of Arbigo in the city of Losone.

According to the results of research by Ukrainian activists, this memorial may be connected with the fate of Ukrainians who were part of the Second Infantry Division of the Polish Army, interned in Switzerland during World War II.

This memorial stone is one of the few Ukrainian historical monuments discovered on the territory of Switzerland.
