On October 11, 2024, Ambassador Iryna Venediktova met with the newly appointed Deputy Director of the International Law Department of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ronald Portmann.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the issue of bilateral cooperation in the legal sphere, the progress of the implementation of projects supporting Ukraine, as well as the legal aspects of the issue of restoring justice for Ukraine.

Ambassador of Ukraine informed the Swiss official with the efforts of Ukraine in the direction of achieving a just peace. She emphasized that the only acceptable path to peace remains the Peace Formula proposed by the President of Ukraine, which is based on respect for the UN Charter and the full restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.

Iryna Venediktova emphasized that the real restoration of justice involves bringing the aggressor to justice for all crimes committed against international law and the people of Ukraine, crimes against humanity, genocide and the crime of aggression. As well as compensation for damage to our state and all victims. It also means the inevitability of punishment for all criminals, which will be a prerequisite for the safety and security of all humanity. Other potential aggressors must understand that there will be inevitable punishment for these crimes.

For the world order and international law to prevail, Ukraine needs the help and expert knowledge of partners and specialists. In this regard, the Ambassador of Ukraine welcomed the participation of Switzerland and, in particular, the experts of the Department of International Law of the Federal Security Service in the international process of discussing the legal issues of creating a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
