The Embassy of Ukraine had the honor to take part in a moving event dedicated to the celebration of Christmas and the 27th anniversary of the Mariupol children’s home “Wings of Hope.” It is both symbolic and deeply touching that this institution has found its temporary shelter in Switzerland — in the town of Saint-Gingolph, in the canton of Valais.
This day became a true celebration of unity, warmth, and love for the children who, despite the hardships of war, have not lost their faith in kindness. We extend special words of gratitude to the director of the children’s home, as well as to the caregivers and all staff members who take care of the children every day with boundless dedication, compassion, and sincere hearts. Thanks to your work, humanity, and professionalism, the children feel safe, supported, and surrounded by a family-like atmosphere even far from their native Ukraine.
During the event, the Embassy of Ukraine presented the children with notebooks and textbooks, including educational and fiction literature, to support their learning, development, and love for the Ukrainian language and culture.
We sincerely thank the cantons of Valais and Vaud for their constant, generous, and heartfelt support. Special thanks also go to all Swiss citizens who contribute to this assistance and do everything possible to create dignified, comfortable, and safe conditions for Ukrainian children. Your solidarity is a true example of humanity and genuine friendship between our peoples.
May Christmas bring peace, light, and hope, and may every child’s dreams come true.
