On January 28, Ambassador Iryna Venediktova met with Bertha Fernandez-Alfaro, Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Office in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
During the meeting, topical aspects of cooperation between Ukraine and IOM were discussed, in particular, initiatives aimed at supporting internally displaced persons from Ukraine, as well as further steps in strengthening humanitarian assistance to our country.
Berta Fernandez-Alfaro informed about the overall work of the Organization, which focuses in particular on important issues of migration management, which include increasing awareness of displaced persons about the threats of human trafficking, the gender dimension of migration, promoting voluntary return and reintegration programs in a humane manner, educational programs, and providing support to Member States in improving policies, legislation, operational systems and technical procedures necessary to more effectively address the challenges of migration and border management.
The Ambassador of Ukraine expressed sincere gratitude to the International Organization for Migration, the IOM Representative Office in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as well as the IOM European Office for their consistent support and significant contribution to providing assistance to war-affected Ukrainians.
