In cooperation with the Ukrainian Society in Switzerland, the Ukrainian community and with the participation of representatives of the federal authorities and foreign diplomatic corps, a memorial event was held to honor the memory of millions of victims of the Holodomor. This terrible act of genocide of the Ukrainian people was committed by the Soviet totalitarian regime in 1932-1933. Today, in the 90th anniversary, we honor the memory of Ukrainians innocently killed by an artificially organized famine with sadness in our hearts.
Counselor of the Embassy Andriy Biriuchenko, honorary consul of Ukraine Andrey Luzhnytskyi and deputy of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland from the Green Party - author of the postulate on recognizing the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people Natalie Imboden gave speeches at the event. The speakers emphasized that the Ukrainian people overcame the horrors of the Holodomor, demonstrating their strong spirit and resilience, and despite everything, are building a free and democratic Ukraine.
Unfortunately, we are witnessing history repeating itself. The terrorist state is once again committing genocide against the Ukrainian people, trying to destroy our state, independence, and identity.
We hope that Switzerland will join the 28 countries and international organizations that recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
